Travel Day.

Monday June 1, 2026

Dublin, Ireland

Distance traveled: unknown but we took the bus from Inveness directly to the Edinburgh airport then flew to Dublin.

Weather: raining lightly in Inverness, raining almost all the way to Edinburgh airport then raining off and.on, sometimes heavily, in Dublin.  Temperature 14 in Inverness, 16 in Edinburgh and 18 and muggy in Dublin.

Once we were awake (both before the alarm) I made a getaway to source us both some lattes to get us going this morning. I ended up visiting four coffee shops before finding one that was open, which served what looked like 6 oz. Lattes. They at least had double shots.

About 8:30, tired of waiting, we started out on the 20 minute walk to the bus depot. We could have made a faster trip to the airport taking the train but we had done that once already, so we took the bus to see a different view. It was slower but we saw things that we hadn't seen before and don't know when we might again. But we did see castles, old.atone bridges and a lot of road construction. It was a four hour bus ride.

Saw this guy fishing in the river in Inverness this morning. A moment before I took this picture, he bad his phone in his left hamd as he fished.

Snow in the Scottish hills this morning.

Bridge nearl Edinburgh.

There were three bridges alongside one another; a rail bridge and two vehicle bridges, each built during a different century.

Getting to Dublin an hour late,  after witnessing Aer Lingus loading then offloading then reloading all the luggage, hoping like crazy that our luggage was going to make it. I initially resisted the idea but I ended up "searching" for the Tile tags in our suitcases and determined that they were on the plane. However, when  we got to Dublin, it looked a lot like a lot of people were missing their luggage.

It was raining lightly until we got to the hotel then it was raining heavily so we dismissed the notion of walking somewhere for a nice dinner. We ended up in the hotel bar, which was very depressing as there were no customers, and only a grumpy bartender.we could t bear the though of hanging out in that bar sonwe drank our lagers, picked a restaurant, ran up to the room and changed then  walked to our dinner at the shie-shie Fire grill. It was fancy, posh looking a d pretentious. Fortunately the food was good.

Fortunately, we dressed for the occasion!
